About Justice Bob Fillmore

Incumbent Justice, Fifth Court of Appeals

Bob was appointed Justice of the Fifth Court of Appeals by Governor Rick Perry on May 6, 2009. A unanimous Texas Senate confirmed his appointment. Bob was elected to retain his seat on the Court in November, 2010.  During his tenure on the Fifth Court of Appeals, Bob has authored opinions in over 280 cases and participated in the decision of over 800 cases.
 

Importance of Family and Faith

Bob and his wife Judy have been married for 35 years. Judy is a retired teacher, having taught special education in both the Plano and Carrollton-Farmers Branch public school systems. Bob and Judy have two daughters, Katie and Chrissie. Katie is a lawyer and Chrissie is a broadcast journalist. Bob and Judy are practicing Catholics and parishioners of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano. Bob is a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Bob is a lifelong Republican and conservative who believes in judicial restraint; he interprets and applies the Constitution and laws as written, and does not legislate public policy from the bench. Bob is committed to the rule of law, respectful of the rights of all parties that must have access to the courts, and prepared to ensure the continued fairness, integrity, and independence of the Texas judiciary.
